Tandem Flight Procedure in 8 Steps – From Meeting Point to Landing
Are you planning a tandem paragliding flight in Stubai Valley and wondering exactly how a paragliding experience with Fly Stubai in Tyrol works? Here you will find the complete procedure of a paragliding flight – from the first handshake with your tandem pilot to the gentle landing in the valley – clearly explained for everyone taking off with a paraglider for the first time.
1. Meeting Point at the Fly Stubai Info Stand
You meet your tandem pilot at the agreed time at the Fly Stubai Info Stand at the Elferlifte valley station in Neustift in the Stubai Valley. Please bring comfortable hiking boots or solid sneakers, sunglasses and weather-appropriate clothing.
2. Lift Ride with the Tandem pilot
Together with your pilot, you take the Elferbahn cable car up to around 2,000 metres above sea level. During the ascent he explains the procedure, answers your questions and shows you Stubai Valley from a bird’s-eye view. Note: the lift ticket is not included in the flight price.
3. Briefing & Safety Check
At the take-off site you receive a detailed briefing. Your pilot puts on your helmet and tandem harness, checks all connections and explains what to do at take-off – which is just one thing: run along loosely.
4. Lift-Off from the Ground
As soon as the wind is right, you run a few steps down the slope together with your pilot. The paraglider gently rises, both of you up and the ground disappears beneath your feet. Don’t worry – the start works perfectly even without sporting experience, completely stress-free.
5. Enjoying – Free View over Stubai Valley
You sit comfortably in the tandem harness and glide silently over the Tyrolean mountains. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Stubai Glacier, the Kalkkögel and the Inntal valley. On request your pilot will fly tight turns or steep spiras – just as you like.
6. Landing Approach
After 10 to 20 minutes of flight time (depending on the tandem flight package booked), your pilot will guide the landing approach to the landing area in the valley. You will be informed in good time what to do.
7. Gentle Landing
On touch-down you simply stretch out your legs – your pilot brakes the wing precisely on target. The landing is soft and unspectacular, almost like stepping onto a stair.
8. Flight Diploma & Memorable Photos
To finish, you will receive your Fly Stubai flight diploma as a lasting memory of your tandem flight in Tyrol. On request, photos and video footage are taken with a GoPro during the flight, which you can take home directly after landing.
