HOW DOES A TANDEM FLIGHT WORK?

For your tandem flight, you don't need any prior knowledge. We explain everything to you step by step.

We meet at the agreed-upon time at our Fly-Stubai information stand near the lifts (Elfer lifts). We ride up together (lift ticket is not included in the flight price). Feel free to ask any questions during the ascent. Your pilot informs you carefully during the ride.

The rest of the procedure continues based on the preparations and the requirements of the flight.

DO I NEED ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE?

No prior knowledge is required for tandem flying. A team of experienced pilots and instructors ensures a smooth and safe tandem flight, allowing the passenger to enjoy it completely relaxed.

HOW FAST CAN A PARAGLIDER GO?

A tandem paraglider flies around 36 to 40 km/h and can be made slower or faster by pulling on the control lines.

I HAVE FEAR OF HEIGHTS. CAN I STILL FLY?

Yes. We have often found with our passengers that the fear of heights, as experienced, for example, when standing at an edge or a bridge, has nothing to do with the sensation of flying. In paragliding, you are "held" from above. Most passengers who had a fear of heights found tandem flights to be enjoyable, and they could savor the unique feeling.

ARE THERE AIR HOLES?

No. A widespread misconception. However, there are turbulences, which typically consist of updrafts and downdrafts and can cause the aircraft to descend or ascend. Such turbulences can be well compensated for with the paraglider and reduced to a minimum through correct flying behavior.

WHAT CLOTHING DO I NEED?

In summer, lightweight windproof upper clothing and long trousers are recommended. In winter, warm outerwear (e.g., ski suit), gloves, and sunglasses are advisable. Regardless of the season, sturdy shoes that cover the ankles are necessary!

WHAT WEIGHT IS ALLOWED FOR TANDEM PARAGLIDING?

CAN PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES ALSO PARAGLIDE?

Upon agreement, we gladly take individuals with limited mobility for paragliding. Even if you are a bit nervous before takeoff, once airborne, the sensation of boundless freedom will overwhelm you, and any fear will vanish in flight.

Here's the video showing how people with disabilities fly with us:

HOW DO YOU GET TO THE LAUNCH SITE?

No worries, there's not much walking involved. We always take the cable car to the launch site at our main flying mountains, which is only a short distance from the cable car.

K
L
CAN I WEAR GLASSES WHILE PARAGLIDING?

Yes. We even recommend wearing sunglasses due to the higher UV radiation in the mountains and the wind that occurs during the flight.

K
L
WHAT WEATHER IS SUITABLE FOR A TANDEM FLIGHT?

We fly all year round (including winter) and in all conditions that allow for the safe execution of paragliding. Tandem flights don't necessarily require sunny weather. Even with overcast skies, we can fly. The wind should not be too strong and must come from the right direction (depending on the flying mountain). Our tandem professionals know exactly when it's suitable for flying.

K
L
WHEN ARE TANDEM FLIGHTS POSSIBLE?

We fly 365 days a year under suitable conditions. The flight times are also determined by the lift operating hours, but even during the off-season, we have ways to reach the launch point.

K
L
CAN SPECTATORS JOIN?

Accompanying persons are welcome and can be present either at the takeoff or landing, ideally both.

K
L
HOW LONG DOES A TANDEM FLIGHT TAKE?

We fly at Elfer in Neustift and at Schlick in Fulpmes. The standard high-altitude flight, including the cable car ride, paraglider preparation, and the flight itself, lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour.

K
L
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR TANDEM PARAGLIDING?

No, there are no age restrictions. Minors require a consent form from their legal guardians. There is no upper age limit, but individuals should not have acute heart conditions.

HOW DANGEROUS IS PARAGLIDING?

Paragliding has become a very safe sport in the past 10 years. With an injury rate of about 0.5% of practicing pilots, the sport is now considered one of the "harmless" recreational activities. This is due in part to the technical development of the equipment and, on the other hand, the thorough and extensive training. Tandem pilots are specially trained and experienced pilots who strive to avoid any risks.
